Romy's

Ok, I have to admit....this was a first for me. I've lived on this island for just over a year and hadn't tried a shrimp shack yet. While we were headed to the Polynesian Cultural Center, we stopped by a Romy's Shrimp Shack for an insanely yummy lunch.
Literally, these places are just off the side of the road. They have their shrimp ponds in the backyard.

Freshly caught shrimp

Mom has this crazy love of ginger beer (see previous post when Randy and Joycelyn were here--it's non-alcoholic). Ry found that Foodland in Shark's Cove has a huge variety of the stuff. He and Mom had a hay day trying out all different flavors. Dad and I turned our noses up at it. We agreed that it just tastes like cough medicine. Blech!
Some sort of dessert--it's a hawaiian role with a gravy of some sort on top.
Having never been to a shrimp shack, we pondered what to order...and then ordered one of each of the main dishes. :) Garlic, sweet and spicy, and egg roll wrapped.

My favorite was the eggroll wrapped ones (the kids liked those the best, too). Seriously, you haven't lived til you've eaten these bad boys. SOOOOOOOOOO good!

Gotta get the corn on the cob, too.

Here's the pond just behind Romy's where they grow their shrimp.

Dude, when you come we'll hit that place up. I can't even begin to describe how tasty the egg roll wrapped ones are (I think I'm salivating).

But before we go anywhere near that place, we're going to make sure we have tons of benadryl...and you can take a shot of that before we get there, too. Just to be on the safe side.
