Up close and personal

At Sea Life Park and this sting ray got right into Marcus's face. Scared my poor little guy right out of his seat! Notice how fast Evelyn takes over his spot....

Scenic Point

While taking the long way around the island, we came across this sign...and of course it reminded me of a certain trip I took YEARS ago with the McIlquham family....way before I EVER met Ryan. We were traveling through, was it Kansas? Oklahoma? Anyway, the family was very excited to show me the scenic overlooks/points along the way. I found out the hard way that those "lookouts" (I'm being gracious with that term) were extremely smelly. I think I passed each one with my face buried in my pillow. Oh, but we had so much fun on that trip to Colorado!

Now THIS was the view from the point. My picture doesn't do it justice. It was a tiny bit of secluded beach.

Right in front is this tiny island--also called Rabbit Ears cause, well, when using some imagination, this rock looks like one huge rabbit face.

Hair and rainbows

Evelyn wanted some Hermione hair for school...so we french braided her hair and let it sit for 24 hours. It came out looking absolutely LOVELY.

There was a seriously vibrant rainbow just outside our house the other day.

Can you see the faint shadow rainbow?

How fast is Jacob?

I'm soooo glad we have him signed up for soccer! Look at this kid go! I swear, he can sprint like nothing else.

Where in the world was Ryan?

While at the Laie Temple Visitor's Center, Ry showed me where he was stationed and the route he took to fly back home.

Welcome Home!!!

We surprised the kids by him just walking through the door--Julia had tears of happiness...really.

All smiles and so happy to be reunited. Do you like the lei that Evelyn had picked out for Daddy? Bronco colors!

Even Katie Jo was so excited to get hugs from Dad.

Caught the fever

Bieber Fever that is....I didn't realize he was such a fan til I heard him playing with a microphone this afternoon.

JPO Competition

Julia's Junior Patrol Officer group competed with lots of other JPO's from other schools around the island this past week. They had lots of drills and were judged by the Police Dept. While her school didn't win the competition, a small handful of other awards were given out. Julia was one of the few to receive one--Junior Patrol Officer OF THE YEAR!!!!!!
She was shocked (didn't know there was a such award) and ever so honored to receive it. She absolutely treasures her new medallion. So proud of her!

Turn Up Your Volume

Here's some video of the lady teachers and even the principal doing their May Day dance.

One of the teachers dancing (with all the other lady teachers) specifically for the Queen and King.

Oh, everyone (especially the students) got a huge kick out of seeing a bunch of the male staff doing some hula in their board shorts. These guys were such great sports.

1st graders

Evelyn's grade did the song "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride", from Lilo and Stitch, which can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4X1_3VipWs

We played this song numerous times over the past few weeks. Her teacher even sent home the lyrics with all the dance moves, too so that parents and siblings could help these kiddos get their song/dance down. Evie Andie worked so hard and it showed! Here she's riding her surf board ("we'll surf til the sunsets beyond the horizon").

A wiki wiki mai lohi lohi

There’s no place I’d rather be
Than on the seashore dry, wet free

Hand jive!!!

3rd graders

Next up is Jacob with his fellow 3rd graders...

His dance cracked me up. I'll have to ask him the name of his song (he kept it a secret this whole time and refused to practice at home--but he knew all the parts! His teacher told him that he was the best boy dancer of his class!)

He said something about the gorilla walk here?

Look closely and you can see that there's a separate boys and girls part here.

Girls have their hands behind their ears while the boys have a hand across their chest. He did such a good job!!!
