Canlas cousins

Jon called a few weeks ago all excited--he informed of certain dates he and most of his family would be coming to the island. Those dates just happened to be our exact Spring Break dates. :D:D:D Our kids haven't seen each other in about 4 years, so this was especially nice. Ruby and Evelyn hit it off.

The twins, Ruby and Ila, with Evelyn and Marcus. Chilling on the deck of the house at The Point in Laie. These two were inseparable. Jon loaded up on snacks of every kind and let the kids have at it while they watched some show on the laptop.

It was a night of Bey Blades and Pokemon. Gotta get some exercise in, too. Ruby showing Evelyn how it's done.

We really enjoyed spending a week with Jon and Callie and company. We all hit up Ko'Olina, Hukilau beach, and had a fun filled night over at the Well's home. We also had a cousin sleep over at our house so that they could all play (and Jon and Callie could have 24 hours to go and do by themselves). It was one crazy night! But it was also the best. :) Ruby was my little shadow (can't get enough of her!) and Evelyn and Ila became best buds. Isaac made friends with all the boys in the neighborhood. LOL. Julia and Isaac played Pokemon a ton (I still don't understand that game). Possibly the most hilarious moment of the whole week was when all the kids were crab hunting at the Hukilau beach. When they did find a crab, Jon kept flinging it around with his big toe (while all the kids were squealing, cause well, it was a CRAB). I couldn't stop laughing! Anyway, a big thanks and much aloha to Jon and Callie for sharing Spring Break with us. It was lots of fun! Miss you guys!!!!!

Sunday Pictures

Per request from Ry--our children in their Sunday best and in stair pose. Sorry babe, Jacob is slouching and therefore looks like Erkel. :P Julia was so happy to wear her new Easter dress and the boys love having matching ties. Evelyn dug into some of Julia's old Easter dresses and found two just her size.

Here we are a couple weeks ago...Julia spiked a fever at church so we were leaving early. Thank goodness for priesthood holders! We were swarmed by bishopric members before leaving and they made sure that she was taken care of. She took some medicine when we got home, had a good nap, and was fine by morning.

Never Say Never

Technically, we were at the theater to watch Gnomeo and Juliet, but while waiting in line the kids saw this poster and just had to have their picture taken with it.

I still haven't taken them to see the show (we're going to see African Cats next when it comes out) and I'm hoping that they'll just forget about this one.....

New Window

She was such a trooper--that tooth was half hanging in there and so she asked me to hold it while she hanked her head up as hard as she could. !!!!! She said it didn't hurt and that she wanted that tooth OUT.

Popsicles are the best after losing a tooth... Marcus wanted to help support his sister so he had a popsicle, too. :)

On the way to school

While taking Marcus to school this morning, we saw some rays of sunshine peeking through the clouds.

It's an extremely short clip (I thought I was taking a picture), but if you pause it to see--it's gorgeous.

4th Lagoon

Mother Nature finally decided to cut us some slack and brought the sun back out (We'd been having torrential rains FOREVER!!!! Seriously, 12-18 inches of rain per day? No thanks!!!!). And with that sun, a bit of heat. :D I don't know if we ever reached 80, but it was good enough! It seemed like so long since we seen the sun, let alone gone to the beach. So we hit it up a couple weeks ago.

Ok, it takes at least 20 min to get to this place. I used MASSIVE amounts of sunscreen on this boy. So much that I ended up using my own skin on my arms to help take some off so that it would finish rubbing in. It definitely had enough time to set in before being exposed to the sun.....for 5 hours. I totally forgot to reapply on him though. The poor dude was sooooo sunburnt! His back is still peeling from it. I'm going to take that as lesson learned (always reapply no matter what) AND to make it back to the beach more often! It wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't so white to begin with! ;)

Well, now, doesn't he just look comfy with his leg crossed over and a half eaten sandwich in hand?
Seeing as how Spring Break is coming up at the end of next week, I have a pretty good idea of what we're going to be doing each and every day. It's going to involve lots of sunscreen, some new snorkeling gear, and lots of lunches packed in the ice cooler! Oh yeah, we're totally hitting the beach up every day and gaining our tans back. Can't wait!

Jacob's Perspective

We were coming home just last week and spotted this. It's actually a comon occurance at this very spot--with the cloud cover between the mountains and the sun always peeking through. It casts the most beautiful rays of sun. The picture doesn't do it justice (also, it was kinda hard to take since I was driving at the time). Jacob told me a while back, when he noticed it, "Mom! Look! It looks just like when Jesus came to earth!" :)

Solution

All the kids had check ups at the dentist today. The guy took one look at Marcus's mouth and was like, "Oh, we have a thumb sucker here, huh?" He has a huge overbite going on. The thing is, he only sucks his thumb when he's tired....and when he's asleep. I've discovered that he actually sucks his right thumb all night long. So tonight I thought I'd try something to change that. He's sleeping with my socks on his arms (since I can't really wear them while living here anyway....they're still put to good use!). I explained to him that the dentist has said that he needs to stop sucking on his thumb because it's bad for his teeth. His eyes got really big and he just decided then and there that he wants to have good teeth. So, here goes trial #1!

On a wonderfully positive note, this was the first time that Marcus actually sat on the all by himself and let the dentist actually clean his, floss them, and even let them do that nasty flouride treatment! He was so brave! He didn't cry or anything. :D I'm so proud of him!

On an even better note: no cavities for any of the kids.

Lighter note: gotta make an appointment with the orthidonist for Julia. Just to see if any intervention needs to be made.

Expected note: was told to start planning now cause Jacob will DEFINITELY need braces.
