Polynesian Cultural Center

Can't travel all the way to the island without coming here. We were so excited to show Mom and Dad this amazing place.

Evelyn insisted that she and Mema needed to have their pic taken with this lovely girl below.

She loves leis.

We made quite a few pit stops to rest the weary feet.

While we were waiting for the canoe ride, we thought we'd snag a few rare pictures of all the kids and their grandparents. :)

Settled and excited for the canoe ride!

The kids LOVE fishing.

Here's what Ry caught. Half of it is still in the water. It was a good size one.

Julia's catch of the day. She wanted to keep it and have it for dinner. We had to explain that this was a "catch and release" type place but that dinner would still be delicious...

Headed to the yummy luau.

Down in the pit where the pig was roasting all day. Actually, this particular pig will be used the luau the following day. Ours roasted the day before.

These were a lot better this time around. We tried mango and strawberry. Absolute heaven!

All the keiki were called to dance up on the stage with the hula ladies (there was a lady facing them in front so that they could mimic her).

It was pretty hot that day and so instead of walking all over the place, we headed into the imax theater for some cultural learning...in the air conditioning. :) The movie was really cool...we learned about different tribes from all the different islands. It also gave Dad a chance to rest his feet and cool off.

Afterwards, we headed to the luau and then the show. The show is now a story really. I think that it helped that we watched the movie beforehand...it was easier to catch meanings/traditions in their story (which still included quite a bit of dance AND music). I highly recommend it to anyone who comes and who hasn't seen it yet.
