Mr. John

This post is mainly for Ry--Mr. John says "hi" and hopefully you guys might see each other soon. He stopped by earlier this week to say goodbye the kiddos. I already have plans to have some girls night out times with Jorjann. The deployment will be over before we know it! :)

Picnics

The past few evenings have been a bit cooler. The kids have decided to take advantage of the weather and have their dinners outside.

All Grown Up

It seems like every time I buy her a new Sunday dress, she promptly grows out of it. And she's quite picky when it comes to dresses now. Can't have the cute girly ones...I guess that's just an Evelyn thing now. Julia--she likes the more "mature" and more "grown up" look. Well, I'm having a hard time finding that with dresses. But I did spy this certain top--and Julia fell in love with it. It goes perfectly with a black skirt of hers.

She loves this top so much that she wore if for her school picture. Quite the beautiful young lady!

The Zoo

Last weekend I decided to be adventurous and take the kids to the zoo. Not adventurous as in "Wow, you're taking all 4 kids by yourself?" More like, "Dude, I NEVER go near Honolulu without Ry being the driver/navigator". Well, I take Marcus there for his eye appts, but the office is right off the highway. Easy. The zoo? Not so much. But I put a lot of trust in the garmin to help me find it...and find parking. :) It was worth it! It was rainy all over the our place but not at the zoo. The sun was out and the weather was quite nice--not too hot. We took every trail, saw every animal, had lunch at the cafe, and played on the playground.
The kids love this huge fish tank.

Our friendly peacock, "Kevin", tried to join us for lunch. My kids completely freaked out.

Funny story--the kids LOVED seeing the elephants. Especially Marcus....til one elephant turned its back on us and started pooping. Marcus was disgusted--"Ewwwwww! Mom! He's blech!"
That's Marcus's little way of saying he's pooped. :)
The boys were chasing the birds on the ground.

The roots of these huge trees. The kids had lots of fun playing in here.

These were hanging down all over the tree.

Insult to injury

I took all the kids to the church building for Jacob's cub scout meeting this afternoon. Jacob went inside and the rest of us hung out in the car. Evelyn and Marcus were messing around in their carseats....and the next thing I hear is "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" and Marcus crying.

*sigh*

I look over my shoulder and there he is--mouth is bloody again. The same tooth that is the more injured of the two is bleeding.

I'm thinking that perhaps for the next week or so I should invest in bubble wrap.....

And the verdict is....

Last night I gave Marcus a dose of Tylenol and had him sucking orange juiced ice chips. He did that pretty much all night long. This morning he informed me that his teeth were still owies. I checked and his teeth were still extremely wiggly. So I called our dentist at 8am and explained the situation. They were able to squeeze us in at 9:30. :D

Now, here's the thing....we had our 6 month check ups just 2 weeks ago...and Marcus screamed and cried the entire time in the office cause he was so scared. He absolutely refuesed to let them near his mouth. Nothing happening there. He was fine as soon as we got back into the waiting area and he was clutching his new toothbrush. So all this morning I kept telling him "We need to go to the dentist. They just want to look at your teeth. PLEASE don't be scared and PLEASE DON'T scream." He promised he wouldn't--but I could tell he was still freaked out.

Well, we got there and he was OK in the waiting area. When they called us back, he started to cry and clawed his way up into my arms. I sat down on the recliner thingy and had him sit in my lap. We held hands while we were waiting. He was OK with this arrangement and even let the dentist check out his gums and front teeth. Both the dentist and I gave him high praises for being such a brave boy. I promised him any treat he wanted (he totally deserved it!).

As for his teeth, well, the ligaments were bruised and that's what is causing all the looseness. Over the next few days, they'll heal and his teeth should tighten up again. There may be some discoloring, but it's all good. For now, softer foods and in tiny, cut up portions. No problem! And I just have to keep an eye on his gums over the next few days to make sure that he doesn't develop a pocket of air. Again, no problem. I think that his gums are already healing and feeling a bit better. He played hard all evening with Evelyn--they were running around the house dressed up in princess dresses (sigh--yes, BOTH of them--those darn older sisters and what they do to their baby brother). I'd think that he wouldn't play so hard if his teeth were still pretty sore.

Monkeys

Two little monkeys jumping on the bed,

one fell off and.....landed teeth first into the first monkey's head.

Jacob came flying into the room and could barely form the sentence "Marcus is bleeding!"

Apparently, as they were horsing around like boys do, Marucs fell and landed face first into the back of Jacob's head. When Marcus came in, all I could see was a mouth full of blood. It was EVERYWHERE. I scooped him up and ran to the kitchen. After getting a cold/wet washcloth, I tried to clean him up and access the damage. That's when I freaked out. One of his front teeth was pulled down quite a bit and tilted inwards. !!!! I scooped him up again and ran to the neighbors...who weren't home. So I called a good friend of mine who lives down the street and she promptly came over to help me. Thank goodness!!! After much cleaning and peering inside his mouth, we discovered that the tooth was sliding back into place...and both front teeth are extremely loose. Not enough to run to the emergency room--but enough to call the dentist in the morning.

Update to follow....

Another All About Me

I found this on the wall outside Evelyn's classroom a couple weeks ago. Apparently, each student created one and now they're on display. So cute!

Splash Park

Marcus's class hit up the splash park at the end of class.
