Happy Anniversary to us!

This past week we celebrated 11 years of marital bliss. :) It has been an exciting, wonderful adventure the entire time--and we look forward to continuing it for forever.

We weren't able to go out on our actual anniversary--but we had a Hail and Farewell to attend in Waikiki the night after and so we celebrated it then. The dress code that night was Aloha wear. I took Evelyn and Marcus to the swap meet to find a shirt for Ryan (he didn't want it to be loud and flowery--something more subtle). Here's what we ended up picking out.


I was able to find a dress that matched. :) The Hail and Farewell was really nice. The food was excellent (I can't wait to go there again!) and the company was really welcoming. We made up part of the 11 Hails--we were introduced to the entire room and given leis (mine's in the fridge--Evelyn promptly claimed it for her own when we got home). After all the newbies were welcomed, they started in on the Farewells...each person was introduced, highly complimented, given leis, given a plaque, and then they had to give a speech....all 27 farewells!!!! Dude--it took almost an hour and a half just for that part of the evening! A lot of the acronyms were completely over my head as they described what they did and how much they appreciated everyone, but I'm looking forward to learning. I figure it's kinda like joining the church--we have our own lingo of a sort.
Anyway, it was a very lovely evening--our first date since we've been here. And what better way to begin--by celebrating our anniversary!


Check out the floral arrangement that Ryan gave me! Holy cow! I have no idea what it's made up of (except that there's some limes at the bottom), but it's absolutely gorgeous.
