Cub Aquatics

This was our first year doing cub aquatics. Jacob loves swimming--as long as he has his floaties. There's no getting him into a pool or ocean without them. I was inwardly wondering how on earth this activity was going to fly with him. Check it out.

Jacob practicing some of his kicks.

His leader is showing them how to float with their body straight out. Notice Jacob hasn't let go of his death grip on the side? It took so much coaxing for him to try ANYTHING.

He had to be able to hold his breath for 30 second under water....he took it at about 7-10 per try and that counted.

He was so scared to try this--float on your back for at least 30 seconds. He had help.

Swim laps while using a boogey board (if you look closely, his is under his body).

Then to finally try swimming a couple laps without any help.

And here's what we ended up with at the end of an hour:

We're headed to the Schofield Pool tomorrow and he's declared that he's not going to use the floaties there--he's ready to try the swimming like he learned here. I'm so proud of him!
