Junior Patrol Officer

Julia joined the JPO's this year--it's offered to kids who are 10+ old and who keep up their grades. They have to sign a contract saying that they'll keep up their grades, show up on time, ect. One week each month, Julia heads out the door by 7am so that she can help raise the flag at school and then patrol the busy intersection right next to the school. They do this after school, too.
Here she is--whistle duty. She blows her whistle to signal when everyone is to block the people/cars and when it's ok to unblock. (this is also her "MOM, I'm supposed to be paying attention! Put the camera away!" look).
Here she's guiding others with her hands (blocking and letting people through).

Stop sign duty.

Letting the cars know that they can't pass...poor girl--that sign is HEAVY!

Still heavy....

She almost dropped it on a car the first day....but she's getting the hang of it!

Pole duty--holding it in front of the people til the whistle is blown and given the "OK" for everyone to cross the street.

I'm so proud of her! She got up on her own all week long to get ready and be out the door early. And she was brave walking to school all by herself. She loves being a JPO.
