Last night I gave Marcus a dose of Tylenol and had him sucking orange juiced ice chips. He did that pretty much all night long. This morning he informed me that his teeth were still owies. I checked and his teeth were still extremely wiggly. So I called our dentist at 8am and explained the situation. They were able to squeeze us in at 9:30. :D
Now, here's the thing....we had our 6 month check ups just 2 weeks ago...and Marcus screamed and cried the entire time in the office cause he was so scared. He absolutely refuesed to let them near his mouth. Nothing happening there. He was fine as soon as we got back into the waiting area and he was clutching his new toothbrush. So all this morning I kept telling him "We need to go to the dentist. They just want to look at your teeth. PLEASE don't be scared and PLEASE DON'T scream." He promised he wouldn't--but I could tell he was still freaked out.
Well, we got there and he was OK in the waiting area. When they called us back, he started to cry and clawed his way up into my arms. I sat down on the recliner thingy and had him sit in my lap. We held hands while we were waiting. He was OK with this arrangement and even let the dentist check out his gums and front teeth. Both the dentist and I gave him high praises for being such a brave boy. I promised him any treat he wanted (he totally deserved it!).
As for his teeth, well, the ligaments were bruised and that's what is causing all the looseness. Over the next few days, they'll heal and his teeth should tighten up again. There may be some discoloring, but it's all good. For now, softer foods and in tiny, cut up portions. No problem! And I just have to keep an eye on his gums over the next few days to make sure that he doesn't develop a pocket of air. Again, no problem. I think that his gums are already healing and feeling a bit better. He played hard all evening with Evelyn--they were running around the house dressed up in princess dresses (sigh--yes, BOTH of them--those darn older sisters and what they do to their baby brother). I'd think that he wouldn't play so hard if his teeth were still pretty sore.
