There are officially nine more days til glorious freedom. No more puffy red eyes that hurt and itch like nobodies business. I'll be able to breathe indoors and not have to carry around a box of tissues. I won't have any more crazy urges to scratch my eyes out. Only nine more days....nine more days....nine more days.....

You too? Mine seem to have been getting better -- I can sleep most of the night now. But when I think things are going my way, I have a sneeze attack and scare the neighbors. For my eyes, I use Visine A/C. Burns like tobasco, but that's better than the unworldly ITCH. Nothing works for the nose and scratchy throat, though. I've tried them all. Benadryl helps more than most, but then it puts me to sleep, so I might as well be zombie-snot-bucket because at least I can DO something then.
Mine happen in April and September. Is it the same for you? It wasn't like this growing up in L.A.
Mine, thankfully, are only a September thing. I don't think I could handle two months of this. Ryan introduced me to Visine and holy cow--I about cried the first time I used it cause it stung so bad. It didn't take the itch away, but at least my eyes turned white instead of deep red. I was thinking tonight that this must be how it is being a meth addict. You try it once and you're hooked. My eyes constantly itch. But if I itch them once, the itch only comes back with a vengence two seconds later. And it's all over if I touch them again. I made that mistake two nights ago. Then I had to deal with them itching like mad all the while swelling, draining, and that grainy feeling all evening (guh-ross!). That didn't go away til morning.
A friend gave me a sort of cocktail of meds to try and I found that I really like Clariton D. I can actually breathe through my nose and I can stop carrying around my roll of toilet paper. I'd give it a try. It works better than Zyrtec, Sudafed (that's more like candy--doesn't do a thing), Benadryl (only good for putting me to sleep), and any other thing out there. It has to be the Clariton D though, not the regular stuff--have to get it from the pharmacy.
As for growing up with this--nothing doing. I've lived in Missouri for almost my entire life but my allergies didn't manifest themselves til right after I started having kids. :P
I moved down to Louisiana and lo and behold, I have allergies. They say that for those that never had them WILL get them and those that did have them, it'll only get worse...when you move to Louisiana bc it is just that bad. This past year when normal pollen count is around the 100's, we were in the 600's! You know it is bad when you get a carwash in the morning only to have a cake of pollen on it by the afternoon!!!!!!
